This was a new project I tried with the 8th Grade this semester. One of my goals was to teach steps for how to look at something and then draw it...something they seemed to really struggle with.
I projected a photo of a bowl of plastic fruit onto the board and walked them through how to draw a Still Life step by step. Then they practiced shading techniques like hatching, cross-hatching, and stippling to add value. After watercoloring the fruit bowls, they added patterns to the background with Zentangle!
A lot of different techniques went into this project but the contrast is amazing. Even though they were all drawing from the same picture of fruit, I love the variety!!
